Old or Stupid?

Am I getting THAT old or are they just THAT stupid? I just got back from looking for and eventually finding the new “Exile” and the first place I was told to go turned out to be a BIG disappointment. The new Best Buy in Knightdale was like walking into the CD aisle at Dollar General. I’m like, WTF?! Where’s y’all’s damn music at? So I went to The Stones section and it was all the usual crap, and not one “Exile”. After standing there in disbelief for about 5 minutes I finally walked up to the greeter lady. She was a nice black lady in her mid-30’s. “Don’t y’all have the new The Rolling Stones?” I asked. “Whass that? Is that a movie?” she says to me. I mutter “Oh my God!” and do a 180 out the door. The fact that somebody that age has never heard of The Rolling Stones just galled me. It reminded me of another unfortunate incident on Sunday at…where else but…Wal-Mart. The lady was checkin’ us out, there again, in her mid-30’s DID NOT KNOW WHAT AUSTRALIA WAS!!! Had no clue! “Whass that? “Uhhh…it’s an Island, a Continent actually…” Grace tells her. “What dey got? Why anybody wanna go there?” “Beautiful beaches, wide open spaces, cool plants, animals…” “Sounds like a bunch of dirt!” she quipped. I backed away. There was no talking to this one. I just have to wonder where we went wrong that we’re this far along in this society and folks that age are so uninformed about things that are just everyday knowledge for the rest of us. How did you get to the high position of Wal-Mart cashier and not have ever heard of Australia?! It’s like Sarah Palin running for VP OF THE COUNTRY! and not knowing that there was a North and South Korea! The other day I was behind a pick-up truck with the words “OLE’ BLUE” in the back window. I wondered if the truck was Mexican-American. I guess it just comes with the territory. I’ll just sit here and listen to my new Stones CD and have another shot of fabric softener!

I try to stay away from those big ol' corporate places when I'm looking for anything other than a Kidz Bop collection...not that I look for any of those...

My brother-in-law owns a good ol' fashioned rekkid store in the mighty town of Henderson if ya need any hook-ups in the future. He'd even be happy to stock some o' yo mess. :)
