worst year ever

I'd like to nominate 1985 as the worst year ever for Popular music.
I think you need only to look at #1 to concur:

I think "Every Time You Go Away" is the only song on that list I don't actively hate.

It sure sucked.
Here's some stuff from 1985 that didn't suck.
NRBQ- She Sings, They Play (w/Skeeter Davis)
Replacements - Tim
Neil Young - Old Ways
Tom Petty - Southern Accents (for some reason, I never liked him much until this one)
I'm not finding much else in my collection from that year. yikes.

Yep, the first Sats record was the only thing to keep me from losing it that year. It was an aural oasis in a desert of blandness (dear God, what have I been smokin' to type that...) I agree - '85 was probably the the peak of bad pop. The charts didn't get much better the last half of the decade, but they definitely didn't get any worse.
