nightfall

Every once in a great while you realize that all of your hard work, hopes and dreams were all worth the effort (for the last oh...30 some years!). Last night I felt like we had finally gotten there..to the mountain top. Well, actually we were at the bottom of a couple of mountains in a little town called Chattanooga, TN. When I first heard about this gig I had the impression that we were just one of about 8 other struggling bands on a bill for an outdoor free-for-all in the cool downtown area. I was right about it being downtown and cool but what I didn't know was that we were the headliner and there was only one other band, the opener Uncle Lightning. This thing they call Nightfall is every week on Friday evening and there are some great acts that come through, including next weekend Shemekia Copeland, who the Yayhoos had the pleasure of working with and who we LOVE!
Anyhoo, to make a long story longer, Uncle Lightning gets done with their set and I walk down and see the audience for the first time. "Holy Shit!, there's....3000 out there!". Grade schoolers to Grandmas, there they were, the peoples of Chattanooga what wanted to get their rock on. The Olympic theme starts and we hit the stage running. Bam bam bam, take that! One song after another, we're just rockin like ass. Toes start tappin', the folks in the wheelchairs start going around in circles, kids start running crazy and the dance pit begins to fill. We gave them everything we had for 90 minutes and they begged for more and we gave it to'm. "Battleship" and then "SLUT". More? OK, how about "All Dressed UP" and "Yesterday's You"? That did it, they sceamed and hollered but we left'm..wanting more. Dig it, we just played a non-stop 90 minute set for 3000 people and they wanted more. PLUS! we sold tons of records and shirts. Our merch guy, Sean could hardly keep up. Isn't this why we do it? Years and years playing for the staff in shitty little clubs were well worth it for this. Thanks Chattanooga, we won't forget you!
Pics to come.

We're happy for you guys, wish we could have been there. You should have a crowd like that everywhere you go. Take care on the road, M & M.

Awesome! I wish I had been there. You guys kick-ass. Fortunately, as a second choice I was able to catch the Don Dixon show at the Pour House that night. Great show and good turnout, especially for a 7pm show. Gotta say early show is a really nice alternative. Anyhow, I saw the poster there announcing the Yayhoos coming soon! I'm counting down the days. I can't wait to finally get the chance to see y'all.
