not enough tears

Lord, if you've got any more weekends like this one, just keep'm. Since we heard the news on Saturday morning we have been walking around in a daze and with heavy hearts for my cousin and his family who's son was murdered by sheriff's deputies Friday night.
Apparently, they have a new way of serving of warrants in New Hanover County. First, they surround the house with about 20 officers, then one guy goes up to the door, kicks it in and then starts shooting the first person he sees, once in the chest and then in the head. Then they kill your dog.
This kid was one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. I'm not going to say that he wasn't involved in the assault that he and his roommate were being served for but everyone that knew him knows that he wouldn't hurt a fly. But who knows, kids get together and think up dumb things to do every day. I DO know that he didn't NEED any of the things that were (allegedly) stolen from the victim. My cousin is a trial lawyer and has done quite well for himself and his family. And I also know that no matter what he did, he deserved his day in court and he didn't get that. He was tried and executed by the arresting deputy.
We as parents constantly worry about our kids getting in cars with other kids and crashing or getting terribly sick or some other horrible tragedy but something like this you never see coming, it's just unimaginable.
